It’s a beautiful, rainy day
I’ve always equated blogging with how we begin a conversation. When you meet someone we lack the depth of each other’s likes and dislikes, so we talk about the weather instead. So many people use this starter conversation as the reason they dismissed blogging and now Twitter. #
“I don’t wanna hear about someone’s meal”. We dip our toes in the social water by trying to find a common ground, so we move beyond the weather to food or yard-work. We signup for Foursquare or we just talk about the service at our local haunts. Again, we test the waters and open up about what’s personal. #
As we get comfortable, We grow and we start talking about politics, religion, sports, etc. We start talking about the things which make us individuals. #
I started blogging back in 1999 but put everything online in 2000. I covered techie things, then dove into my life. I spoke about discovering I’m a diabetic, before my friends knew. I talked about getting engaged and married, I spoke more about my life and what I did for a living. But eventually, I pulled back. I’m still shocked by how open I was back then. I had a few family issues with the occasional post and just decided to stop opening up. #
I had a few attempts at continuing my blogging but didn’t like my voice at the time. Of the most life-changing times, I really just dried-up creatively and didn’t want to type out what I dealt with during my health issues. I looked introspectively and now feel I’ve started over. So, I decided to start blogging again. Not really sure about what I’m gonna write, don’t know if it’s gonna last but it’s worth another try. #
