Neat concept, stolen from the New York Times’ “Sunday Routine” section.

I normally get up around 9am. As I get older, I realize that I still can wake up at 7 without an alarm clock, due to my Walker County School System-bred education. But the same can be said for my post-graduate life, of waking up at 9.

We usually have a few options since Niki is always up before I am. We’ll either watch a movie or CBS Sunday Morning and she’ll fix something like muffins or I’ll fix eggs and bacon or we’ll just have cereal. Usually the movies are something we’ll DVR and collectively watch while I spend time on the laptop, while trying to read Sunday papers online. Our last option is going out for breakfast, usually something more substantial than a McBiscuit…..BoJangles, Cracker Barrel, or Huddle House.

After breakfast, we’ll usually go out to thrift shops. Ok, I’ll admit it, we love used shit. We’ll look through furniture or clothes then run to a used CD spot. Kinda bohemian, the lives we live of being in our 30′s and childless.

After our “fun” shopping, we usually spend this time either grocery shopping for our week or for dinner. Then we’ll come home and here’s where it can veer off:  Nik will usually start cleaning while I get ready for band practice. I typically warm up for about 15 minutes then hop in the car for a 30 minute drive to rehearsal.

Once I get to practice, I setup my drums have a beer and maybe  light dinner. We go through songs, which can either be a quick run (7 songs) or where it takes us….runs as late as 10. When I leave, I usually grab something for a bite before I get home or I’ll eat a quick sandwich before bed.

If I get home early enough, we’ll watch Family Guy and something else before I head to  bed around 10:30. After the hospital stay and the weeks at home, I just found I can’t stay up late and be charged for Monday morning. So, I’m becoming an old man and just let the sleep get me early.
